Brown Rice Idli is a low protein, low carb recipe. Brown rice idli is a healthier version of the ever nutritious and delicious idli. Try this recipe.


¾ cup brown rice

1 cup urad daal (split black gram)

1 tsp salt

1 tsp oil


1. Soak rice and daal separately for at least 2 hours. Then grind daal first, then rice, mix together and allow to sit for at least 8 hours to overnight.

2. Add salt, grease idli maker, put batter into the maker and steam for 10 minutes. Allow to cool a minute then remove and serve hot with sambar or chutney.
